Thank You and Goodbye

Any remaining readers of my blog (I imagine there are not many of you) will have noticed that I haven’t posted for a while, and neither have I written very much since Little Frog was born. Combined with the closure of Moonlit Romance, who published my three books, this means that my writing career has pretty much come to a standstill.

I’ve thought a lot about my writing since Little Frog came along. I wanted to resume it, and I tried, but I found I just didn’t have the time to do it – and when I did have the time, I didn’t have the energy required to get my brain into gear! I know that many other writers with children manage to maintain a steady writing career, and for that I applaud every single one of them. But for me, well… writing just doesn’t fit in to my life now. My plan is to resume it when Frog goes off to school, and I’m not holding myself from writing at all in the meantime – I still jot down ideas when I have them. But for now, Jessica Raymond is closed for business. I’ll see you in a few years :)

Jess - I understand as I didn't write when mine were small so whatever you don't beat yourself up.

Jess. will be missed but you are doing what is right for you---and your family and that's what counts. You've been a great writing buddy, but being a tiddler mum is a way bigger job. jx

Thanks, Liz and Judy :) I look forward to the day when I have some more freedom to sit down and write, but for now I am at peace with the fact that it's not in the stars at the moment!

Jess. I want to second and third what Liz and Judy said but with one small proviso. You might find that you do want to start writing again, you just need that space to focus on your little one.

Just don't, don't please wait until you're past 40 like I did. I deeply regret not writing when my daughter was little, even just a dabble.

I ditto everything that's already been said and I'm horrified that it's taken me this long to catch up with your blog.

You know that I too had a looong break between writing, and tbh I don't regret it because, as you are finding, there are times when it just doesn't fit.

Lots of love & hugs to you all,
Sue xx
